OKADA MANILA’S CHEFS OVER-ALL CHAMPIONS IN THE 10TH PHILIPPINES CULINARY CUP

The Okada Manila culinary team emerged as overall champions in the recently concluded most prestigious culinary competition in the country, the 10th Philippine Culinary Cup on August 11, Saturday, besting the culinary teams from different five-star hotels and integrated resorts in the Philippines.

The competition had several categories that were dominated by Okada Manila’s chefs, bagging 4 gold medals, 17 silver medals, 12 bronze medals, and hailed as Champions in the Best Buffet Set-up and French Touch Pastry categories.

In its just three years of operation, Okada Manila has proven to be the home of the best and finest, as this is the second time the luxury integrated resort participated in the competition, remarkably receiving recognition as the overall champion. According to Chef Andreas Balla, Okada Manila’s Director of Culinary, the landmark achievement was made possible by the concerted efforts of everyone in his team. “I’m extremely proud, of course,” Chef Andreas said. “They’ve been working so hard for this. But we have so many talented chefs, so I was quite confident they were going to win this time.”

World Food Expo organizer Joel Pascual said, “The competition was participated by some of the best hotels in the country. The mere fact that (Okada Manila) bested everybody else means the food and the food service in the hotel can be expected to be truly top rate.” Okada Manila’s win underlines the kind of award-winning culinary talent behind its array of signature restaurants, from Kiapo, which offers traditional Filipino food with a twist, to its Michelin-starred Yu Lei.

Set in 44 hectares of prime land on the foreshore of Manila bay, Okada Manila is a US$2.4 billion integrated resort in Parañaque’s bustling Entertainment City. Envisioned to put the Philippines on the map as a premier entertainment and gaming destination, it offers the finest hotel rooms and dining options, the largest and most exciting gaming floors, a US$30 million multicolor dancing water fountain and a oneof-a-kind indoor beach club and nightclub.
