Waste Management
At Okada Manila, we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact through comprehensive waste management strategies focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling.
We conduct detailed audits, employ advanced recycling facilities, and implement on-site composting. We segregate waste at the source, working closely with facilities management to analyze and divert waste resort-wide.
We have transitioned to eco-friendly packaging, upcycle old uniforms, and use biodegradable materials for cleaning supplies. Our operations utilize recyclable materials, and we are digitizing processes to cut down on paper use.
All amenities and packaging have shifted to sustainable options, and we have introduced reusable and biodegradable bags to phase out plastics. We recycle single-use plastic bottles and comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022.
Furthermore, we manage e-waste responsibly, adhering to stringent environmental and data security standards, and are transitioning to wooden key cards to replace plastic room keys.
Energy Efficiency
We prioritize energy efficiency and the promotion of renewable energy.
Our smart systems optimize lighting, heating, and cooling based on occupancy, and we integrate solar panels and renewable technologies to decrease reliance on non-renewable sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Our facility features efficient air circulation systems, and rooms utilize DigiValet technology to conserve energy.
We consolidate shipments to save fuel and reduce our carbon footprint.
By switching off lights and turning off air conditioning when not in use, we achieve significant electricity savings, aiming for 100% LED lighting across all outlets.
Additionally, we use high-efficiency slot machines to reduce power consumption on the casino floor, and we have replaced diesel with LPG in our laundry operations to cut air pollution.
Water Conservation
We utilize graywater recycling systems for irrigation and non-potable purposes, significantly reducing water consumption.
High-efficiency fixtures and appliances are installed to minimize water wastage. Our sewage treatment plant recycles all wastewater for cooling, flushing, and irrigation, achieving zero wastewater discharge to Manila Bay.
Additionally, our waterless car wash service uses high-lubricity sprays that require little to no water, and our in-house laundry employs water-saving wash programs that maximize load capacity for efficient use of water, chemicals, and time.

Okada Manila Serves Sustainably Premium Nordaq Water
In today’s climate, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a global imperative. At Okada Manila, the five-star integrated resort is stepping up to meet this challenge head-on by embracing innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact.
As part of its commitment to a greener future, Okada Manila is replacing single-use plastic bottles with a more sustainable alternative: high-quality, filtered water bottled directly within the property.
“We are elevating our waste management protocols through the Okada Green Heart program. This bold move proves that we can prioritize the planet while still delivering a premium experience to our guests,” said Byron Yip, Okada Manila President and Chief Operating Officer.
Plastic waste remains one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. Millions of tons of plastics are discarded into oceans and landfills daily, endangering ecosystems and human health alike.
“Okada Manila is playing its part in building a better, greener tomorrow. Through our own water filtration and bottling system, we are significantly reducing the demand for single-use plastics,” Yip added.
This initiative was made possible through a partnership with Nordaq. a Swedish company known for its state-of-the-art water filtration technology. Nordaq’s patented system is the preferred choice of top hotels and restaurants worldwide, allowing Okada Manila to provide its guests with sustainable, premium water.
With this new system, Okada Manila can produce 1,000 bottles of water per hour, all served in reusable glass bottles. This sustainable approach not only enhances the quality of water provided to guests but also eliminates the use of approximately 2 million single-use plastic bottles annually.
“By embracing this change, we’re not just reducing waste—we’re setting a new standard for what responsible hospitality should look like,” said Rob Scott, Vice President of Hotel Operations. “It’s a win for our guests and a win for the planet.”
Okada Manila plans to extend the use of Nordaq water across other areas of operation, fully integrating this environment-friendly initiative into all guest experiences.
“We hope guests will enjoy this eco-friendly choice and join us towards a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come,” Scott added.

At Okada Manila, our goal is to prioritize fresh and sustainably sourced produce and ingredients in our signature outlets. Most of the produce we use is locally sourced and grown in the Philippines, ensuring it is fresh, healthy, and organic. We aim to use responsibly sourced seafood and ensure that our eggs and meat come from cruelty-free environments. Additionally, we opt for regionally sourced ingredients to bring you the flavors of the world in our Okada Manila-owned restaurants.

We have significantly reduced plastic use in our operations, eliminating items such as stirrers and straws.
