Missing Japan? Be transported to the land of the rising sun with Okada Manila’s Sakura Festival

Taking its cue from its Japanese roots, Okada Manila annually celebrates Sakura festival, giving guests a fun experience they can share with their families and friends without having to leave the country. While Japan’s borders remain closed to international tourists to control the further spread of the COVID-19 virus, Sakura festival enthusiasts and those who have been meaning to visit Japan to witness Sakura season can still experience Hanami in the city. So come and enjoy the traditional celebration of the season with Okada Manila’s exciting activities and experiences!

Sakura Festival

Apart from the beautifully-crafted Sakura garden set up in the Pearl lobby and Crystal Corridor, exciting activities such as Origami-making, Japanese painting, Japanese calligraphy, and Kimono experience await guests and patrons. Each workshop runs for about fifteen [15] minutes, and materials will be provided beforehand. During the workshop, guests can expect an introduction to the basics and will be given time to practice what they learned after the workshop proper.  These workshops are a great way to learn about Japanese culture without having to go overseas!

For the Kimono activity, guests can choose from various kimono styles and rent an outfit for thirty [30] minutes. To ensure safety, before the activity proper, guests shall be asked to proceed to the sanitizing area. After proper sanitation, guests can already enjoy their chosen kimono outfits by posing along the Sakura Lane and sharing their photos on their social media channels. Those who will post on their Facebook or Instagram feed from March 06 – 28, 2021 will instantly receive Okada Manila merchandise. Rest assured that all kimono costumes are properly sanitized after each use.

A single or accumulated receipt worth PHP 500 from any Okada Manila outlet entitles the guests to one [1] workshop, whereas receipts worth PHP 1,000 qualifies guests to one [1] Kimono activity stub. Alternatively, guests may also purchase their workshop and Kimono activity stubs, priced at PHP 200++ and PHP 500++ respectively, at The Gift Boutique.

New Rewards Circle sign-ups are entitled to one [1] Sakura stub.

Wanko Soba Challenge at Enbu

For Japanese food lovers, this activity is a perfect fit. Wanko-Soba noodles is an all-you-can-eat dish which has been served in Iwate as an Omotenashi meal, a way to serve soba noodles to the guests in a delightful way.

This has become the inspiration of Enbu, Okada Manila’s Robatayaki restaurant which provides guests with an authentic Japanese dining experience, for its “Wanko Soba Challenge at Enbu!” activity. Contest participants will be served with a small serving of Soba noodles in small bowls, and they must eat as many soba bowls as possible within the time limit. Those who can finish at least a hundred [100] bowls within thirty [30] minutes will be included in the Wall of Fame and will be awarded with a certificate. The higher the number of bowl counts, the more prizes contestants can earn, and the best player of the month gets a brand new Samsung Galaxy Fold!

Promo runs from March 8 to May 6, 2021 (Mondays to Thursdays - 5PM to 10PM). Walk-in registration is allowed for 1 – 2 pax guests and group reservations are required to book by calling the landline +632-8555-5799.
